presenter for Adobe

Hey guys,
we need a presenter for next Wednesday's Adobe presentation. I can't do it because I'm not available that day. Those of you who are available should meet up and discuss what to do. We need all of our personal folders to submit on a CD by this Friday. So either you get them in person, on the server, or off of the google drive. We really need to get in gear with this, and you shouldn't have to rely on me to get communication started.

Posting the FNL file

If everyone's okay with the newest revision that's up on the drive right now, can someone upload it to the server? My computer is running ridiculously slow right now, and I don't think I'll be able to get it on the server in time.

Ebook revisions

Hi all! I tried fixing some of the kinks in the ebook like making sure the BGs line up correctly and that everything stayed consistent. I wasn't able to fix everything, but hopefully it looks a little smoother. I uploaded it to the drive if anyone wants to take a look or add to it.

Text pages 01-19

Hey All!

I just wanted to give you a heads up that I uploaded the text .fla file to the drive.

Also;
 1. I omitted pages 00, 05, and 06 based on the final layouts. Those particular pages did not have any text which is why I did not include them.

2. I made the text of page 01(title page) 85pt instead of the chosen 72pt established for the rest of the text on the pages.

Edit: please let me know if you need me to change anything on the files I've worked on or need assistance on anything else! :o)

I did some quick button/arrow examples. If you guys see one you guys like or something I can fix, let me know. I can always change the color.


I'm uploading the PSD file onto the google drive right now. The file is titled, "Button Examples.PSD".. Each button is in its own folder/layer.

I made a spreadsheet to keep track of the animation. I tried to remember who has what page. Check the layouts and correct the spreadsheet to what you volunteered for.

Flash test

I tried to animate the bird in flash. It is just a trial. I will add more birds and make them go off screen. Let me know if i need to change anything.

Animation test

Hey guys,
I just uploaded an animation test to the drive under the Animation folder. I hope you can get a taste for what I'm thinking in terms of the style. It's pretty simple. Just extremes. For walks and runs it's just an up position and a down position.
Also take a look at the flash file. It's set up without the buttons right now so it just plays through. If you go in there you can see how I did the animation. Each step is on a different layer (rough to clean up).

the ipad 3^rd and 4^th generation are 2024x1536

I think we should go bigger, and can always shrink it down.

So your flash file dimensions should be

1536 x 2024 pixels

Naming conventions

The naming convention is split up into simple parts: what page it is, what kind of symbol it is, and what role it plays on the page.

So a button on page one would look like: 01btn-play02

Here is a table for how it will work

There is a dash between the symbol type and the role.

A movie clip on page two that was the animation would look like this:

Keep is simple and clean and straightforward.

All animation and text should be movie clips

If and when we get to extra stuff, those will all be buttons.

All backgrounds will be graphics split up into 3 layers: foreground, middle ground, background.

Interior idea

I posted some interior tests I did on the drive under the folder: New Ideas for interior. I took the idea of Joelle's piece with the stairs and played with it. The font I used is called old style from dafont.com. I think we could use that font and then paint onto it like how I did on the painting. That way it looks a bit more interesting.

Just a test shot of the interior of the house before I head to work.

Applying the same painting style to the interior was difficult but I figured since this is inside of a man made structure, everything in the interior can have more angular features opposite from the exterior. Any thoughts?

I took Laurens interior painting and did a quick test over it just to simplify a bit more. I feel that for the project we just need an indicator of space for the interior and not everything has to be totally fleshed out/complicated.

EDIT: I think during the next meeting, we should ALL WORK TOGETHER so that stuff looks consistent and things will get done quicker. Lauren discussed how we need to simplify the design of the interior which I think is a good idea since we're little on time plus we don't want to over complicate things.

So if you guys CAN, lets all work together to churn this out.

Meeting on Monday

Hey guys!
This is our last week. We need to meet on Monday and discuss how we're putting this project together. 10am like the usual time. In order to efficiently get this ebook produced, I think we should split up the work by sections. We need to create all the assets first and then we'll put them all together towards the end of the week. We need animation done, backgrounds finished, the text and buttons made, and lastly actionscript to program it.
I would say to have an idea of what you want to help out with and we'll organize our week on Monday. Hope you guys have a nice weekend.

I posted in the Drive an Ebook Test. This shows how the ebook will look and where scenes will go once there finished.

Also, can everyone please put together your own layouts for the presentation on Friday. 11 by 17 with a 1 inch border all around. This will make it easier to put together. The deadline for work will be 9pm Thursday night again.

Quick Layout Examples

Here's what I was thinking about the other day. Really simple with lots of little opportunites for animation.

I couldn't find the layout examples that Lauren showed yesterday on the drive, so I did this based off of earlier stuff that was done, and used colors for sunset since it's the end of the day when the wife comes home. Are the layout examples in a specific folder?

Sorry, I really had to crank this out due to my other group project deadline. A lot of things are out of perspective but this is was the interior will look like. Colors may change later. Feel free to add dishware etc.  The interior roof will be thatched and lined with logs for support. Bed??? We don't need a bed for this story lol!

Okay, so here's the book that I was talking about earlier. Sorry about them being sideways. For some reason blogger wouldn't let me change it and my dropbox is full right now. Anyway, the interior bits are the ones to really look at. It's essentially just the characters and a few props, but that's all you really need to get a sense of space and what kind of space they're in. It's simple and it gets the point across. Enjoy!

I have put together some layouts and a color script together to help as a starting point. Tomorrow we can go over them and talk about what should change and what people can do. For the most part I am aware of what some people are contributing to the group. However, there are some of you who haven't shown up to anything and I'm not sure what you plan on contributing to this project.

Hello Fellow Group Members!

I was just wondering what was discussed in the meeting today?

 I havent been there due to my work schedule and seeing the email sent from Lauren B. yesterday afternoon I think it would be a great idea to divide the work in order to maximize efficency. With that being said I was just wondering if it was discussed at all or if there even was a meeting. I just havent heard anything from anybody and I would like to contribute as much as possible to help with this project.

I have work 10am-6pm today and 2pm-6pm tomorrow so I am able to meet after work on those days if need be and in the morning tomorrow. I am also available all day Wednesday and Thursday. Thanks for letting me know!
